Change User ID for Increased Security
The security of your personal information is of paramount importance to Jefferson Bank and Trust Company. Please help us keep your information secure by following these best practices:
Change your User ID to something that does not include your Social Security Number (Tax ID Number). Many people use their first initial(s) and last name. Using your Social Security Number exposes you to the risk of identity theft by shoulder surfing, spyware, keyboard stroke recording viruses and other unscrupulous methods that crooks use to try and steal your identity. Shoulder surfing is the low tech method of looking over your shoulder when you type in your Social Security Number. We recommend that you use a firewall, antispyware software and antivirus software to protect your personal information. In addition to keeping these software products up to date it is important to keep your operating system and web browser software up to date for the highest level of security.
To change your User ID please login to the JBT Direct Internet Banking system and click on Options and then scroll down to the Modify Login Information section. ID's must be between 8 and 25 characters, consist of 1 or more letters, numbers are allowed Click on the submit button. Please use your new User ID the next time you login to the JBT Direct system and communicate the new User ID to other authorized users if applicable.
Change your password every 90 days and do not use easy to guess passwords such as: birthdates, first names, pet names, addresses, phone numbers and Social Security Numbers. We recommend that you use a password that contains numbers and letters for your security. Never use your User ID as your password and do not write your password down and keep it under your computer keyboard, mousepad or in a location visible from your computer. To change your password login to the JBT Direct Internet Banking system and click on User Options and then click on Change Password. Type your current password and then type your new password twice and click on change password. Please communicate the new password to other authorized users if applicable.
