Financial Statement (2002) * Letter From Our Chairman * Statement of Condition * Officers and Directors Letter From Our Chairman TO OUR GOOD FRIENDS, My remarks on this page last year indicated a belief that our economy would rebound during 2002 but that did not happen. We continue locked in an anemic pattern and it will take a quick and successful resolution of the Iraq problem and real tax relief to permit a resumption of significant growth. Low interest rates are less of an economic stimulus than a symptom of a poorly performing economy, and for reasons mentioned above, we do not see a change in rates for at least the first half of the year. This bodes well for borrowers and this continues to be an opportune time to establish or refinance term debt. As one of the few remaining banks whose name has not changed in a hundred years or more, I want to advise that Jefferson has money to lend and we invite your consideration and comparison.
